Call for Proposals
A New Day Youth and Adult Services invites proposals for Traffic Jam 2026, Canada’s national conference on sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
This year’s theme, Fueling Exploitation, focuses on demand as the driving force behind trafficking. Together, we will examine how cultural norms, systemic structures, and legislative frameworks contribute to demand, while highlighting strategies to dismantle exploitation at its root.
We welcome submissions from survivors, service providers, policymakers, researchers, educators, and community leaders. Proposals should reflect innovative practices, survivor-centered approaches, research findings, or cross-sector collaboration that can inform national dialogue and action.
Conference Streams

-
Behind the Wheel - Exposing demand, dismantling exploitation Who drives demand — buyers, profiteers, and systemic actors? This stream explores shifting accountability away from survivors and toward those responsible for exploitation.
-
Fueling Exploitation - Demand is the engine — it’s time to shut it down Examining cultural, economic, and systemic drivers of demand — including pornography, online platforms, racism, colonial legacies, and power imbalances — and presenting strategies to reduce and prevent demand.
-
Roadblocks to Demand - Legislation, culture, and accountability on the path to change Focusing on policy frameworks, legislative reforms, enforcement strategies, and community-driven initiatives that disrupt demand at multiple levels.
